(EN) The Role of Education Economics in the Further Development of the Czechoslovak Education System

In the introduction brief information is given on the origin of education economics as a scientific field and on its tasks in our social system.
This clarification is followed by an analysis of the question of education’s social effectiveness and of the factors influencing it. It is pointed out that there are close relationships between the education system and the economic system, with education — as an essential component of qualification for jobs — creating the preconditions for economic growth and for social development in general. The relationship “education — science — economics“ is interpreted in detail.
The next part of the article deals with the way of understanding rationalization of education and with the reasons for its promotion in the education system. Brief suggestions are made for ways of implementing this rationalization.
A special part is devoted to explaining changes in the character of work in education and those in the social position of education. At the same time it is pointed out what consequences are to be derived from this knowledge for social practice, especially for the practice of planning the development of education and the national economy as well as that of personnel requirements of the education system and the necessary material and technical supplies.
Lastly, the concluding chapter deals with some present-day problems of education and suggests the possibilities of solving them.
