One of the most important factors linking school with life is the workshop practice
of pupils, which is the practical side of the subject of »fundamentals of production«-
The fact that the pupils work in the factory environment under the technical and educational guidance of workers is of great cosequence from tlie educational point of view .
The factory environment differs from the school environment by the purpose of the work, which is productive, practical, and carried out in the collective of adult workers. The ethical concepts and views of our pupils become more concrete and profound in the environment of our working people. The pupils get to understand the life of the working man better, and realize the Importance of protecting and taking care of socialist property. The environment of workers brings home to them the notion of socialist patriotism and proletarian internationalism and helps them to form their world outlook.
An important role in the education of our youth is played by foremen, technical instructors and workers. Their character, their working, political and pedagogical qualities are a decisive factor in shaping the pupils’ correct attitude to work and the working class. If the work with the pupils is more systematic and deliberated. It will be all the more successful. Lessons in workshop practice are to have a system of their own, which consists in explaining the working aims and tasks of the pupils. In following and checking the while them work. In appraising their work and In using it for educational ends. The factory environment makes it possible to use such forms of educational work as talks, lectures. Instructional meetings, excursions, co-operation between the youth movement organizations at the factory and at school, participation of the pupils In the cultural and social life of the factory workers, etc.
There ought to be more co-operation between schoolteachers and factory Instructors. The success of the educational Influences of the workshop practice on our pupils also depends, to a great extent, on the co-operation betw een social organizations at school and the factory, particularly between the organizations of the Communist Party, the Trade Union Movement and the Youth Movement. The participation of parents and factory instructors in the Parent-Teacher Association and its committees will enhance the co-operation between school and factory from the educational point of view.
The help of the schoolteachers to the workers of the factory in raising their qualifications creates favourables conditions for an effective and joyful co-operation between the tw o educational institutions, where our pupils are being brought up.
