In order to ensure the all-round education of young people, new subjects — education for work and, productive work — have been introduced in the curriculum of general education schools. Both subjects áre new and do not have an established general nor specialized curriculum. The author tries to outline some of the didactical principles and methods on the basis of research results, applied by our foremost teachers in education for work. He deduces that the nature of the subject also necessitates a revision and the supplementing of classic didactical principles.
On the basis of an analysis of the tasks and problems of the subject and the analysis of research material, the following principles were derived: the principle of linking physical work with life and the work of the people, the principle of linking physical work with modern production, the principle of linking physical work with education, the principle of conscientious and creative work, the principle of object teaching methods, the principle of systematic and gradual work, the principle of reasonable and comprehensible work, the principle od planwise work, the principle of collective work, the principle of acquiring permanent knowledge and skills and the principle of individual care to pupils.
