The author Is interested in some problems of the apprentices’ education up to this time. The first problem the author pays attention to is the recent niveau of technical training. Giving an exam ple of the branch of training of »Universal Turner« he states the grounds of the purpose of this subject of instruction and its extent of 3472 lessons in a period of apprenticeship. This number of lessons enables the apprentices, after a period of apprenticeship, to work in the fourth working rank of the catalogue of work. On the contrary, e. g., In the technical school or in the twelve years school, designed for engineering, with a far sm aller number of lessons, the pupils could not be able to learn a turner’s profession of this working rank during the period of studiing.
The second proolems is the present state of liberal education in the Institutions for ap prentices’ education. In this regard there are considerable differences from the other schools of the third grade as this sort of education, e. g. in the branch of training of »Universal Turner«, has an extent of about 800 lessons in these teaching subjects: Czech (Slovac) language, civics, m athem atics, natural sciences, gym nastics and civil defence. The extent of liberal education is not the same in all subjects of instruction, some of them having as much as 1080 lessons during a period of apprenticeship.
Finally the author confronts the recent state of technical training and liberal education with the principles set by the Xlth Congress of CCP. At the same time he makes a Statement that, as to the con ditions of tech n ical training they substantially correspond to the demands of the close unity of school and life and therefore it is not necessary to prepare some radical changes as it would be the case of technical and twelve years schools. On the other hand the present state of liberal education in the institutions for apprentices’ education is far from the task set by the Congress XI and, in this regard, an improvement is to be done.
The analysis, made by the author, bears out the truth of the proposed reorganisation of apprentices’ education: such institutions will be built where, during the four years period of apprenticeship, besides the workers’ qualification , the apprentices will acquire the liberal secondary school education giving a right of high school studies.
