Byl hodnocen životní styl, negativní návyky a kvalita života učitelů. Zjišťován byl rovněž způsob trávení volného času, zejména míra pohybové aktivity a další možnosti relaxace.

The State of Health and Lifestyle of Teachers from Different School Levels
In 2007, the Institute of Hygiene and Preventive Medicine of the Charles University Medical Faculty in Hradec Králové in collaboration with the Faculty of Health Studies of the University of Pardubice conducted an anonymous questionnaire survey with the aim of determining whether the state of health andlifestyle of teachers in the CR really corresponded to their supposed high level of informed knowledge of the possibilities of primary and prompt secondary prevention of so-called civilisational diseases, i.e. whether their level of information was reflected in a healthier way of life. We also wanted to find out whether there were differences in this respect between different levels of school.
The research sample consisted of a total of 484 respondents: 201 of these were teachers in basic (elementary) schools, 227 teachers in middle (secondary) schools (academic high schools, early-start high schools and middle vocational schools) and 50 were university teachers. In the survey sample there were 145 men and 339 women, which corresponds to the higher proportion of women in the Czech educational sector.
The survey was held in the Pardubice and Hradec Králové Regions and also partly in Prague. Respondents were asked about their subjective evaluation of their state of health and their life style (smoking, consumption of alcohol, use of medical drugs, exercise).
The results of the survey indicate that there has probably been a certain improvement in lifestyle among teachers in comparison with the situation more than a decade ago. This is evident in the declaine in the prevalence of smoking, a certain restraint in alcohol consumption, less over-use of tranquillisers and sleeping pills. This finding needs, however, to be backed up by further studies.
We believe that it is very important to monitor care for the health of teachers, not only for their own sake, but as a way of encouraging healthy lifestyle, and the health of the pupils and students entrusted to their care.
