This paper characterizes school management as a scientific discipline of pedagogy. The author analyses this discipline as a process in which the whole work of the school, aiming at realizing the educational targets of the school, is deliberately influenced by your purposeful activities. In doing so we make use of the theoretical knowledge in the field of Marxist philosophy, pedagogy, psychology, sociology, economics, cybernetics, and other scientific disciplines. We also make use of progressive practical experience, tact and feeling for directing such a complex organization as the present-day school. This work is based on party resolution, legal norms, and the directives concerning educational work of school issued by the respective authorities. The paper goes on to point out the requirements concerning the headmaster, whose part in the process of the school management is decisive. Proceeding from the aims of the socialist school, from the laws governing the educational process but also those governing the field of social management, the author draws the conclusion in which he formulates the following principles for the pedagogical management of the school:
— individual responsibility of the head of the school, as an expression of democratic centralism,
— the principle of co-operation and application of the teachers’ initiative in running the school,
— the principle of purposefulness and consistency in the pedagogical management of the school,
— the principle of check and control and the application of responsibility in running the school. And he goes on to point out the most important functions applied in these activities:
— planning of the pedagogical work of the school,
— organization of everyday life of the school,
— motivation of the teachers’ work,
— check of the work at school.
