Management games are based on special dynamic models, which are both symbolic and verbal and make use of simulation techniques of the action-reaction type. Each management game simulates an economic situation, presupposes phasic development, decision-making by individuals or groups of players with or without modern computer techniques, and is played according to certain rules. The first management game was worked out in 1956 by a research group of the American Management Association. Management games can be classified from a number of viewpoints. There are what we call general management games and functional management games, managements games with a deterministic model or a stochastic one, management games with an isolated model or an interactional one, computer games and noncomputer games etc. The use of management games in training and education has many-sided effects. Management games lead to changes in attitudes to management problems and alter the participants’ way of thinking, behaviour and decision-making. The process of decision-making has the character of a dynamic gradual process, the groups learn from their own mistakes, an atmosphere of healthy competitiveness is created between groups or individuals. The use of management games in the teaching process presupposes not only a good knowledge of them on the part of the lecturer, but also the elaboration of models of games corresponding to the existing economic situation in the country concerned.
