Keeping up the quality educational system, or even raising it is dependent on teachers’ state of readiness as well as their career identification; both being connected with teachers’ life and work conditions. The graduates research shows the importance o f clearly defined prospects. The contribution is based on the original empirical research of the author which contains the teachers’ view of their own „prospects“ and „careers“ as well as their attitudes to the further education and potentially offered programmes of professional and qualification growth and their looking for „career“ stages and criteria. It tries to offer the basics for discussion in that field and to initiate the research more deeply directed towards teachers’ professional status and career.
