(EN) Czechoslovak teachers' participation in the preparation of the school programme of the Czechoslovak Communist Party in the time of the twenties

Czech teachers, coming mostly from socially week strata, and being in the consequence of this heirs of progressive traditions of our nation, usually symphatized with the Social Democracy, the marxist left wing of this party and with the progressive teachers organizations. This way they got to a direct co-operation with the Czechoslovak Communist Party. In spite of their small number they achieved to have done important work for the Party’s cultural policy and propaganda.
They participated especially in the formulation of the School Programme of the Czechoslovak Communist Party from the year 1924, in the work of the Communist Publishing House, in organizations symphatizing with the Czechoslovak Communist Party such as Proletkult, the Federation of Workers Physical Exercises Union, the Communist Adult Education Federation, Nejedlÿ’s Society for Economic and Cultural Rapprochement with the New Russia, Communist children and youth organizations etc. Besides teachers were active also in the teachers’ groups of interest (Social Teachers Association, Communist Teachers Union), and in the Trade Union teachers headquarters, such as The Czechoslovak Teachers Community, where they helped propagate the policy of the Czechoslovak Communist Party and the ideas of the Soviet united school. At the end of the twenties the teachers-Communists helped to assert the class view of otherwise pedagogically interesting reform movement for experimental Comeniums and Atheniums. Those politically maturest helped then after the Vth Congress to assert the Bolshevist line of the Party’s policy, which contributed significantly to the uniting of the majority of our nation in its fight against facism and war.
