Annotation:
A personality, a social category by its substance, in Marxist-Leninist pedagogy and psychology is understood as an active subject, having its own autonomy, internal structure, dynamism and genesis, changing its social environment, and thereby simultaneously also changing itself. Social activity is an attribute of human substance, manifesting itself in the material as well as spiritual sphere, in the sphere of work, interests, art, science, politics, etc.
The article deals with some socio-psychological principles of a personality’s social activity, with emphasis being laid on activity at work and in political and civic life. Factors influencing the type, degree and level of social activity and the aspects of its process are pointed out. A key to activity and the motive force of social activities is motivation, manifesting itself in the personality’s structure, especially in the needs, interests, attitudes and value orientations. A high level of social activity and its progressive orientation is shown by - the recognition of the social objectives and principles of a socialist society and their priority; - accepting the work for society as a higher sense of life; - the basic moral norms and the value system of society being accepted and transformed into an individual’s system.
Development of the personality’s social activity and conscious behaviour must be purposefully influenced by means of regulation and self-regulation in the process of education.
