(EN) The Share of the Family and School in the Motivation of Pupils' Achievement at School

This study is divided into two parts. The first part contains a theoretical methodological introduction to the problems concerning school achievement motivation. It analyses the relation of family and school to the formation of general and specific needs in the following areas: a) the needs concerning the individual’s Ego, b) the social needs, and c) the cognitive needs.
The second part of the study contains the results of an orientation comparative research carried out at one school in Budapest and one in Prague. The results of the research have shown some differences in the level of the needs investigated in the samples of the pupils concerned, which may be attributed to different school environments in the case of social needs, and to family environments in the case of the needs successful achievement.
