Development of foreign language literacy
Journal Gramotnost, pregramotnost a vzdělávání is preparing an English monothematic issue focusing on the development of foreign language literacy.
Current concept of language learning and teaching highlights the development of communicative competence. In particular, it aims to foster the development of abilities that enable students not only to understand a message, analyze it and critically evaluate its content, but also express himself or herself and formulate his or her opinions. Therefore, for adequate communication in a foreign language it is necessary that the learning process is complex and encompasses all four language skills listening and reading comprehension, oral and written expression.
The monothematic issue of Gramotnost, pregramotnost a vzdělávání targets works addressing the development of communicative competence as a goal of foreign language education from the perspective of both the teacher and the pupil. In the centre of our interest there are papers dealing with the literacy skill of reading. Research, comparative and review studies dealing with the development of socio-cultural and intercultural competence are also welcomed.
Submission and Review Timeline / 30th September 2019: Abstract submission deadline / 15th October 2019: Full (invited) manuscript submission deadline / The review procedure will take place in October and November 2019 / December 2019: Anticipated publication date.

Čtenářská, matematická a přírodovědná pregramotnost v předškolním vzdělávání

Časopis Gramotnost, pregramotnost a vzdělávání připravuje monotematické číslo se zaměřením na oblast rozvoje pregramotností v předškolním vzdělávání.
Předškolní vzdělávání má pro život dítěte nedocenitelný význam, neboť rané zkušenosti dítěte mají trvalou hodnotu pro jeho budoucí život. Jedním z hlavních cílů předškolního vzdělávání je vytvářet dobré předpoklady pro celoživotní vzdělávání, což nezbytně vede k nutnosti pokládat dobré základy pro rozvoj budoucích gramotností a s tím související rozvoj předpokladů pro jejich osvojování.
V posledních letech se v České republice objevují projekty zaměřené na rozvoj pregramotností dětí předškolního věku, jejichž cílem je zkvalitnit přípravu učitelů i předškolní vzdělávání jako takové, a to zejména v oblasti čtenářské, matematické a přírodovědné gramotnosti. Monotematické číslo časopisu Gramotnost cílí především na odborné práce týkající se výše uvedených témat, ale také na srovnávací a přehledové studie.
Kromě odborných příspěvků přijímáme také diskusní příspěvky, zprávy z projektů a recenze publikací.

Special Issue call for abstracts “School Education, Family Environment and Their Impact on Literacy ”

The Journal of literacy, pre-literacy and education is preparing a monothematic issue focusing on school education, family influence and its relation to literacy. The aim is to analyze a broad spectrum of factors impacting development of key learning skills which can increase effectiveness of school education. Sociocultural and family background and their influence on education are long term phenomena in psychological, educational, and sociological research. Some foreign publications in particular bring comparisons of a child’s family environment and its school performance. In today’s globalized society the importance of observation and analysis of the mentioned factors increases, with the objective to identify potential risk areas and search for their overcoming. In the Czech republic projects concentrating on literacy development both in school and family environment, working with children from disadvantaged and excluded areas have been occurring ever more frequently in recent years. The monothematic issue targets mainly works in relation to the above mentioned subjects, in addition to comparative and reviews studies.
